It's a Time!

Posted 2017-06-17 22:21:42 by Camp Director

Sorry for the delay.  We had some last minute changes that needed to be made and the health department of McDowell County finally signed off on our temporary dining facilities late this week.  Campsite and meal shifts are now posted.  Please let us know if you don't see your Troop listed.  Also, we finally got our menu approved by the county school nutritionist and it is now posted on the website as well.  For those of you coming the first week, we look forward to seeing at 2 tomorrow.

Campsite & Meal Shift Assignments

Posted 2017-06-12 22:54:16 by Camp Director

Happy Monday from Camp Grimes.  Our staff is busy getting prepared to provide a great Summer Camp Program.  Our mobile kitchen and other equipment is in and working great and our dining tent is up and ready!  I had hoped to post the campsite and mealshift assignments tonight.  However, we've had a technical glitch and I hope to have it worked out sometime tomorrow.  Stay tuned.

We're Getting Closer!!

Posted 2017-05-01 14:58:53 by Alan Keiger, Camp Director

Excitement for the 2017 Camping season is ramping up as we just a month and 1/2 away from the start!

MB classses have been added and/or expanded to the best of our ability.  Please make sure you get all waitlisted Scouts moved off the wait lists.  Also, after today, any Scouts still listed on your roster will cost you $20 per boy if they do NOT show up at camp.  Please delete any Scouts NOW that you know will not be attending this summer.

We are working on campsite assignments now.  Week 2 is presenting some challenges because we have a lot large Troops in camp.  We'll do our best to accomadate everyone the best we can.  Let me know if you have any questions.

Clear up roster issues

Posted 2017-04-17 18:28:13 by Alan Keiger, Camp Director

We are now right at 2 months away from the start of the 2017 Summer Camp Season!  Our staff is committed to making sure that it's the best summer ever for your Scouts.  We have made all the moves we can at this regarding waiting list for merit badges.  It is now time for you to start clearing your wait list by moving boys to available merit badges.  Also, please remove all youth and adults on your roster that are no longer coming.  After May 1st, you'll still have to pay the $20 deposit per Scout, even if they don't arrive at camp.  Shortly after May 1st when rosters are settled, I will issue campsite and dining time assignment for this summer.  If you have any questions, please let me know!

When putting your Scouts into the registration system, make sure you are including their Birthdate/Age AND Rank.  Otherwise, some merit badges (i.e. the CIT's) will not populate when you go to select their classes.

Online Registration Begins

Online registration will begin March 23, 2017 at 8:00 a.m. Registration starting times are staggered, depending on your week of camp. The start time schedule is as follows.

Week 1

8:00 am

Week 2

10:00 am

Week 3

12:00 noon

Week 4

2:00 pm

In the mean time, you should make sure you are prepared by 1) applying for a troop login id, 2) entering your troop roster into the system, and 3) familiarizing yourself with the registration process.

Entering Rosters

MyCampGrimes is now open for you to apply for your troop login and begin entering your troop roster. If you manage a large troop, remember that you can upload your roster information from a file you provide to the website. The file may be 1) a csv file downloaded from Scoutnet, requested from the council office, 2) a Unit Roster pdf file available from Internet Advancement, and 3) a custom built comma separated value file built to the site’s specifications. You should also remember to delete any youth who is not attending summer camp from your MyCampGrimes roster. More instructions are available on the website. You can obtain the Scoutnet file for your troop by emailing your request to Jo Esposito at jo.esposito@scouting.org.

Remember to check your roster to insure rank and age or birth date is entered for scouts. This information is used to determine which merit badges the scout can sign up for. Also, please enter all adult scouters who will be attending camp on your roster and check the nights they will be in camp. This information helps us in planning for tent space and calculating costs.
